Whether you’re a fan of the racing, the fashion or the location, there’s something for everyone at Glorious Goodwood over the next week.

The 2018 edition of the five-day summer festival gets going on Tuesday afternoon and lasts right through until Saturday.

We’ll be providing betting previews each day. But here’s what the casual racing fan has to look forward to across the next week.

The location

Part of what makes Goodwood so glorious is its location.

No other racecourse comes close to the views of the Sussex Downs, Chichester Plains and the Isle of White that the 216-year-old circuit offers.

King Edward VII once described it as a garden party with racing tacked on.

And with the summer sun forecast to beat down upon the lush green lawns and bright white grandstand all week, the West Sussex venue should look resplendent as ever as the horses go to post.

The fashion

Sharp suits and gorgeous dresses are the order of the day at summer racing festivals. And Glorious Goodwood is no different.

Racegoers are encouraged to keep it smart and bright with an array of white, pink and blue numbers.

Ladies’ Day on the Thursday is always a glamorous affair. But it’s Friday and L’Ormarins’ ‘Best Dressed’ competition which usually sees the best outfits of the week.

The winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the Queen’s Plate Festival at Kenilworth Racecourse in South Africa in 2019.

All you have to do is wear the signature pale blue and white to be in with a chance.

The Magnolia Cup

Not all of the racing on show across the five-days is winner-takes-all.

The Magnolia Cup at 1:15pm on Thursday 2nd August sees 12 inspirational women get in the saddle for a charity race in aid of Cancer Research UK.

All of the women competing are leading individuals in their respective field, whether that be business, sport, medicine or media.

This will be the eighth running of the event and another chance to add to the £1.2m total raised so far for the charity.

The racing

Don’t forget about the racing! The week will feature three Group 1 prizes and a whole host of other valuable handicap renewals.

Tuesday’s Goodwood Cup is the highlight of the Festival, where Stradivarius will be odds-on to claim victory and remain on course to land the Stayers’ £1m Bonus.

The Nassau Stakes, Lennox Stakes, Sussex Stakes and the Stewards’ Cup are just four of the week’s other valuable pots up for grabs.
