Monday’s transfer rumour round-up: Higuain, Courtois and Traore

Published:

The 2018-19 Premier League season is less than two weeks away now, and the summer transfer window shuts next Friday.

But there is still time for managers to fine-tune their squads ahead of the new campaign. Here are today’s latest rumours…

Higuain could be Higua-out

Following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain’s future is up in the air.

The Argentine striker has been linked heavily with Chelsea and could yet arrive before the season starts. Alvaro Morata may go in the opposite direction.

Courtois continues at Chelsea, for now

Speaking of the Chelsea, the Blues are fending off strong designs from Real Madrid for Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgian stopper is out of contract next summer, with Real willing to pay £32m this summer. Chelsea won’t sell until they find an adequate replacement. Kasper Schmeichel continues to be tipped as the man to put the transfer dominoes into action.

Wolves’ pre-season prep continues

They’ve been busy this summer ahead of their Premier League return, but Wolves aren’t done yet.

The club are chasing Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore, but are reluctant to meet the winger’s £18m release clause.

Fulham’s Mawson move is still on

Jean Michael Seri and Andre Schurrle have already arrived at Craven Cottage, and Alfie Mawson could be next.

The Swansea City defender is the subject of a £20m deal by the Cottagers, who are looking to shore up their defence after winning promotion from the Championship last season.

But Leeds’ Vydra deal could be off

On Friday we highlighted Leeds United’s pursuit of Derby County’s Matej Vydra.

An £11m deal was reportedly agreed, but today it appears Leeds and the Czech Republic ace are some distance apart on personal terms.
