Juventus ace Pjanic fits the Man City mould as rumours intensify

It’s been a quiet summer of transfer activity for Manchester City. Riyad Mahrez is the only big money signing through the door at the Etihad Stadium so far.

Pep Guardiola had hoped to bring Napoli star Jorginho to the Etihad Stadium. But that move fell through when the Brazilian linked up with Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

So could Juventus ace Miralem Pjanic be the answer to City’s midfield question?

Well, Guardiola seems to think so. The Catalan coach is rumoured to have had an initial approach for the Bosnia & Herzegovina international knocked back by the Old Lady.

However, we think the 28-year-old is a man worth pursuing. Not many players can seamlessly step into the shoes of the great Andrea Pirlo and excel in the role.

Yet Pjanic has done just that. He’s made the position at the base of the midfield his own with a dizzying array of passes and almost unparalleled ability to see what’s in front of him.

In many ways he exemplifies the modern embodiment of tiki-taka which Guardiola has sought to implement at City. Even more excitingly, he still has room to progress.

It’s easy to see the ex-Roma man stationed alongside Fernandinho getting the City attacks rolling.

If the Sky Blues up their bid and fend off the advances of Barcelona, then that partnership could soon be a reality.
