Irish Oaks Preview: Horse-by-horse guide to the Curragh Classic

With Glorious Goodwood just over a week away, attention this Saturday turns to Ireland and the 2018 Irish Oaks.

This year’s Classics have been full of shocks both at home and in the Emerald Isle. Will we see another at the Curragh come 5:30pm on Saturday?

Magic Wand

Aidan O’Brien’s filly is the jolly and she’s the jolly for a reason.

The three-year-old has endured a mixed season but showed her class last time out when landing the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot by 4l. Undoubtedly the one to beat.

Sea Of Class

Two Listed wins from her first three starts make Sea Of Class a lively contender. Ran on well last time in The Abingdon and should appreciate the extra 2f on offer here.

Forever Together

O’Brien’s second runner and another lively contender after landing the Pretty Polly Stakes last time out. Beat Saturday’s favourite to win the Oaks at Epsom by over 4l and undoubtedly one to be feared.

Bye Bye Baby

Galileo filly was found wanting in the Pretty Polly Stakes which doesn’t bode well back at the Curragh. Needs to step up significantly if she wants to challenge.

Mary Tudor 

Godolphin runner has not kicked on from landing a Listed contest on reappearance and will likely be found wanting.

Romiyna

Triumphant on debut over 1m4f and sixth on her latest start at Naas. Lightly raced and maybe one to keep an eye on for each-way backers.

Tissiak

Fifth behind Easter Lily at Naas last time out and needs to find more here.
