Friday’s Transfer Rumour Round-Up: Welbeck and Willian involved

Danny Welbeck - England

It’s less than a month until the Premier League returns. And the transfer window is hotting up, with some of the continent’s hottest talents being hunted.

On another frenzied day of transfer speculation, we’re rounding up the big stories.

Is Dan the man for Toffees?

It’s a new era under Marco Silva at Everton. And the latest reports suggest the Toffees boss has his eyes on Danny Welbeck.

The 27-year-old only has a year left on his Arsenal contract, so the Gunners could well look to cash in now. As for ‘Welbz’, he’ll surely be keen to get more game-time in a bid to break back into the England squad.

Ambitious Cottagers want Lopez

Fulham have already spent big to bring Jean Michael Seri in from OGC Nice. And the Cottagers could be set for another coup. They’re currently linked with a move for Espanyol captain David Lopez.

The fee being bandied about is £35m. A rock at centre-back, he was also a part of the Napoli side who made the 2015 Europa League semi-finals.

Willian to Barcelona

New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is enduring a baptism of fire. Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard both look set to leave for Real Madrid, and now it seems Willian could also be leaving for La Liga.

The latest reports suggest the move could take place within the next 24 hours, so watch this space!

Can Blades cut deal for Champ ace?

In the Championship, Sheffield United are reportedly ready to table a £5m bid for Ipswich Town hitman Martyn Waghorn.

The 28-year-old netted 16 times for a poor Tractor Boys side last term, and could well be tempted by a switch to the upwardly-mobile Blades.

Japan’s Wenger approach

Okay, it’s not quite a transfer rumour but we couldn’t leave without mentioning it…

Word is that the Japanese FA want former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to take the national team job, following the departure of Akira Nishino.

Wenger already knows the Japanese game, having lifted the Emperor’s Cup during his 18-month spell as boss of Nagoya Grampus Eight.
