Friday’s Transfer Rumour Round-Up: Palace and Everton want Roma man

Maxime Gonalons - Roma

With the domestic season closing in, there’s a whole heap of wheeling and dealing going on at the top clubs in England and on the continent.

We’ve got all the info on the hottest rumours emerging today.

Prem pair tussling for Roma midfielder

Maxime Gonalons could be the next French ace en route to the Premier League, with Crystal Palace and Everton both reported to be in for the 29-year-old.

A defensive midfielder who proved himself one of Lyon’s key men during eight years at the club, he’s struggled to find his best form since joining Roma last summer.

The France international is believed to want first-team football elsewhere, so a bidding war between the Eagles and Toffees could be on the cards.

Mourinho targeting Croatian wizard

It’s not the first time this rumour has cropped up. But Manchester United are once again being heavily linked with a move for Ivan Perisic.

The winger managed double figures in both goals and assists in Serie A last term, for Inter Milan. And he’s fresh off the back of a superb World Cup with finalists Croatia.

With Anthony Martial reportedly keen to leave Old Trafford this summer, a move for Perisic could soon get the green light.

Leeds on the verge of major addition

The signs are bright for Marcelo Bielsa’s new-look Leeds United. And the positive vibes will only be boosted with the signing of Matej Vydra.

The Czech hitman’s move from Derby County seems to be all-but-confirmed.

Having hit 21 goals in 40 Championship outings for the Rams last term, the 26-year-old could prove to be the missing piece in Leeds’ jigsaw.

Barca to scupper Blues’ N’Zonzi dream

Look away now, Chelsea fans.

It seems that Barcelona are now set to beat the West London outfit to the signing of Sevilla’s in-demand midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.

The former Stoke City ace is valued at around £40m, and with the word being that  Barca are ready to stump up the cash – this is one battle Chelsea are unlikely to win.

And the rest

Real Madrid’s summer business is unlikely to be over. They’re 2/1 or shorter to sign three star names – Eden Hazard (Evens), Neymar (13/8) and Edinson Cavani (2/1).

Closer to home, West Ham United are among the frontrunners to sign free agent Hatem Ben Arfa. The Frenchman has a reputation as a hothead, but there’s no doubting his quality.

The signing of keeper Alisson Becker from Roma has pushed Simon Mignolet further down the Anfield pecking order. And he looks set to swap Liverpool for Besiktas in the coming days.
