Croatia v Denmark tips: Modric’s men to beat Eriksen and co?

Published:

Sunday’s second round of 16 game sees the highly impressive Croatia take on European comrades Denmark.

It should be an entertaining encounter between two sides who are still unbeaten. There’s plenty of quality on show, with Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic for Croatia, and Christian Eriksen for the Danes.

Croatia have been superb so far in Russia, and our traders make Zlatko Dalic’s men favourites to win the match in 90 minutes at 5/6.

Denmark have been solid if largely unspectacular, and there’s 15/4 about Age Hareide’s side to win this one in normal time. A draw is 21/10.

And as for who makes the quarter-finals tonight by any method, Croatia are 2/5 with Denmark 19/10.

The Croatians should see this one through in regular time.  They boast a dazzling array of midfield quality in Modric, Mateo Kovacic, Milan Badelj plus forwards Perisic, Mario Mandzukic and Ante Rebic.

They maintain possession and boast a clinical edge up front in a manner not too dissimilar to how Spain play. They’re 13/5 to win on the -1 handicap.

Similarly, there’s 33/20 for the Croats to win with over 1.5 goals, and 14/5 about them to win and over 2.5 goals in the match.

As for Denmark, it’s hard to get excited about a side who scored just twice in a group which contained Peru and Australia.

And they can’t match Croatia’s depth of quality, but in Eriksen they have a player who could walk into any nation in the tournament.

The Tottenham Hotspur ace scored a beauty against the Aussies, and will need to be in similar form if he’s to steer his side into the quarter-finals.

There’s 9/1 about Eriksen scoring first, while he’s 7/2 anytime.

But with five different Croatians already scoring in the World Cup, you can see why they’re favourites to go through. Denmark will have their hands full this evening.

Captain Modric bagged two in the groups, including a stunner against Argentina. The Real Madrid lynchpin is 15/2 first goalscorer and 3/1 anytime.
