The English game has a long-standing love affair with Brazilian footballers. Middlesbrough had a particular affinity with the Samba Stars in the mid-90s, along with Arsenal in the early-00s.

Nowadays the sight of silky South American playmakers is commonplace in the top-flight. Fred is the newest recruit after joining Manchester United from Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this summer.
