Gareth Southgate could be set for a knighthood, according to our football traders.
After a 2-0 win over Sweden in the last-eight, England are now just two wins away from a second World Cup.
And because of that, we have slashed odds on the manager’s efforts being recognised in the Queen’s next Honours List to just 5/2 – the same price the Three Lions are to go all the way.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Southgate has got the country believing again and if football does come home, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the boss rewarded by royalty.”
World Cup-winning manager Alf Ramsey was given the same honour after England lifted the Jules Rimet trophy back in 1966.
