South Korea v Germany Preview: Reigning champions to qualify in style

After a dramatic final round of matches in Group D last night, it’s down to Group F to deliver the fireworks this afternoon.

Germany find themselves in a slightly healthier position than Argentina did yesterday ahead of their clash with South Korea.

Die Mannschaft rescued all three points late on against Sweden on Saturday night to put themselves in pole position ahead of today’s 3pm game.

As long as Joachim Low’s side equal or better the Swedes’ result, they’re through. South Korea require a minor miracle if they’re to reach the last-16.

The reigning world champions are odds-on for all three points at 1/5. You can back the Taeguk Warriors at 14/1, with the first draw of the group available at 11/2.

Toni Kroos proved the vital match winner in Sochi at the weekend. The Real Madrid midfielder curled home a sumptuous free-kick in the dying embers to clinch a vital 2-1 win for the Germans.

He’s 21/10 to double his tally with another goal Anytime this afternoon. His teammate Thomas Muller was the joint-top scorer at the last World Cup.

The 28-year-old has yet to find his scoring boots in Russia and is 19/20 to break his tournament duck against the Koreans. You can also back him at 7/2 to Score First.

Son Heung-min will shoulder the goalscoring responsibility for Shin Tae-yong’s men.

The Tottenham Hotspur ace bagged a stunning late consolation against Mexico last time out. Our traders go 10/3 for the forward to follow it up with another goal here.

Both of the defences on show this afternoon have proved somewhat haphazard in their approach so far. That should make for an end-to-end game in Kazan.

We go 4/9 about there being Over 2.5 Goals in the contest. You can double up on that market by backing Germany to Win and Over 2.5 Goals at 6/10.

After a slow start to the tournament, there’s a feeling that this could be the match where Low’s charges finally begin to hit their stride.

They’re 19/20 to Win to Nil and 11/8 to Win Both Halves against a Korean side that have disappointed on the big stage.
