Man Utd and Chelsea set to go head-to-head over Jordi Alba

Manchester United and Chelsea have both been alerted by Jordi Alba’s frustration with his contract situation at Barcelona, according to reports.

The Spain international’s agent claims the club have kept him waiting for 18 months for talks over a new contract to begin.

United and Chelsea are hoping to take advantage of the delay and tempt him with a move to England.

Alba played a key role in Barcelona’s title win last season. The 29-year-old is expected to start for Spain at this summer’s World Cup too.

He’d be a clear upgrade over Jose Mourinho’s current options on the left side of defence. And while Chelsea have Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri, they’re more wing-backs than full-backs.
