It’s the Women’s PGA Championship this weekend, with a hefty $547,500 awaiting the winner.

Illinois’ Kemper Lakes Golf Club plays host for the 64th edition of the tournament.

The LPGA Tour is proving ultra-competitive this year – the 17 events so far this season have been won by 16 different players.

So it could be anyone’s in Illinois this weekend.

The favourite is Thai superstar Ariya Jutanugarn. The 22-year-old won the US Women’s Open earlier this month and is 8/1 to double up on Sunday.

Jutanugarn has been excellent all season, posting another nine top-10 finishes, including victory in the Kingsmill Championship.

Next up is American Lexi Thompson, who has really found her stride of late.

The 23-year-old’s last three finishes read T5, T9 and T3. Plus, Thompson already has 13 top-10 finishes to her name in Majors. The Floridian is 12/1 to claim her second Major title.

Neither Jutanugarn or Thompson have won the PGA before however, unlike Inbee Park.

The 14/1 shot is a three-time champion, with her wins coming in a three-year hot streak from 2013-2015.

Park has gone a little cold in recent years, but has shown something of a revival in 2018 with one win and four other top-10 finishes.

Reigning champion Danielle Kang is 50/1, as is Michelle Wei.

Wei’s rapid rise in the early part of the century included a stunning second place in this event behind the all-conquering Annika Sorenstam when still an amateur in 2005.

Things haven’t quite clicked for her in the PGA since though, posting just one top-ten finish since 2006.

Injuries have hindered her progress too, but Wei won the Women’s World Championship in March, so shouldn’t be ruled out just yet.
