Hammers eyeing Bernard to add Brazilian magic

West Ham steered clear of relegation at the back-end of last season. But they are now looking to bring in the exciting brand of football their fans crave.

Whilst there may be some players leaving the London Stadium, The supporters have been getting excited by some of the names touted to be coming into the club.

One player they are seriously considering is Shakhtar Donetsk’s Bernard.

Still only 25-years-old, the play-maker has turned Arsenal down in the past. But suggestions claim he may finally be ready to come to the Premier League.

West Ham have now got Manuel Pellegrini in charge, the Chilean is arguably the biggest and most prestigious managerial appointment in their history.

The Hammers will have loftier ambitions this season, and with players of the ilk of Bernard we may finally get to see the Irons play the ‘West Ham way’.

The Brazilian international is soon-to-be a free-agent which will make negotiations easier.

Of the current crop of players, the future of loanee Joao Mario is still up in the air. He became a fan-favourite last season due to his link-up with Manuel Lanzini and Marco Arnautovic.

However, with Lanzini now a long-term absentee they need another man to get the fans off their seats.

West Ham may also be signing Felipe Anderson. A deal for the Lazio attacker looks imminent and he and Bernard could strike a potent partnership.

The Shakhtar man has certainly stepped up in the last year or so, after seeing the likes of Douglas Costa, Alex Teixeira and Willian all leave the club in the last few seasons.

He notched 10 goals and added four assists in 29 appearances in all competitions as the team won Ukraine’s Premier League.

There will be many teams interested in doing a deal. But Pellegrini has a certain clout and reputation that not many can match.

It would be an early statement of intent from the new manager and one the West Ham faithful would  get behind.
