F1 results: Hamilton wins French GP as Vettel gets it all wrong

Lewis Hamilton returned to the top of the drivers’ standings after a comfortable victory in Sunday’s French Grand Prix.
The four-time champion had been the pacesetter throughout the weekend as Formula One returned to the Paul Ricard track for the first time since 1990.
And when title rival Sebastian Vettel crashed into Valtteri Bottas at the first corner, Hamilton sailed to his third win of the season.
Vettel eventually fought-back to finish fifth, but the German is now 14 points behind his Mercedes foe.
It means our traders have pushed Hamilton into 2/5 favouritism to win this season’s championship. Vettel is the 2/1 outsider with no other driver shorter than 50/1.
The French Grand Prix signalled the start of a summer triple-header, and next up is the Austrian Grand Prix.
The short circuit often provides close racing, so the Red Bull duo of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen might fancy their chances at 7/1 apiece.
Bottas has arguably been the most unlucky driver this season. The Finn has shown good pace for much of the campaign, but victory has so far eluded him.
There’s 9/1 for Hamilton’s team-mate to come home first on Sunday, with compatriot Kimi Raikkonen 25/1.
Further back, Sauber’s Charles Leclerc is continuing to impress. The Monaco driver qualified a superb eighth in France, and backed it up with his fifth points finish of the season.
Amid continued reports he’s set to replace Raikkonen at Ferrari next year, there’s 8/1 about Leclerc to win the title by 2022.
