Swansea v Southampton tips: Saints have quality to edge tight game

Liberty Stadium - Swansea

The phrase ‘relegation six-pointer’ may be a cliché, but tonight’s clash between Swansea City and Southampton is just that. In essence, it’s basically a relegation-play off.

With just two games of the Premier League campaign remaining, only goal difference separates these sides in 17th and 18th place. But it’s Mark Hughes’ Saints who have momentum and head-to-head dominance on their side.

The South Coast club have won six of the last nine meetings, including victory on three of their last four visits to the Liberty Stadium.

Hughes’ men are also in the better form, and it’s 29/20 for a Saints victory. Meanwhile, the draw is 21/10 and there’s 2/1 for a Swansea win.

This fixture tends to be a tight, low-scoring affair. Nine of the last 11 head-to-heads have seen two goals or less. With so much on the line, goals will be at a premium again. It’s 4/7 for Under 2.5 Goals, with 4/5 for Both Teams to Score – No.

One man who could swing this game is Dusan Tadic. The Serbian sent Saints fans into raptures with a brace in the recent 2-1 defeat of AFC Bournemouth.

With four goals in nine games for club and country, he’s 12/5 to Score Anytime, and 13/2 to break the deadlock.

Any goals in this game are likely to come after the break. Three of Saints’ last four games have been goalless at the interval, and it’s 29/20 for 0-0 at half-time at the Liberty.

Meanwhile, there’s 6/1 for Southampton to win 1-0 tonight – something we’ve seen in half of the last eight clashes between these teams.
