Notts County v Coventry tips: County to edge past Sky Blues in close encounter?

Meadow Lane - Notts County

Notts County and Coventry were separated by just one place and two points as the League Two season came to a close.

And now the pair clash in the second-leg of their play-off semi-final. In their previous eight encounters County have come out on top with four wins to Coventry’s two. The other two would end in stalemate.

Both teams shared the spoils in the first leg Coventry needed an 87th minute penalty to secure what might end up an invaluable goal.

However, there must be a winner tonight with Notts County shading it to qualify for the final at 4/5.

The Coventry fans have done their bit to support their team though, snapping up their entire 4,475 allocation.

The Sky Blues are as short as 19/20 to qualify themselves despite never beating their opponents away from home. Nonetheless, their 3-0 thrashing of The Magpies at the Ricoh Arena earlier this season will give them hope. A repeat of that score-line for Coventry is a 28/1 shout.

Kevin Nolan’s men were sitting pretty in the automatic promotion places for much of the season but had to settle for fifth position and a place in the play-offs.

The match is at 27/10 to feature over 3.5 goals with both teams to score and a Notts County win coming in at 9/2.

Coventry defender Tom Davies was handed a three-match ban for violent conduct for his alleged stamp on County’s Richard Duffy. It’s thought either Rod McDonald or Jordan Willis would be on standby to step in.

Mark McNulty is favourite to score first at 7/2 whilst Notts County’s first-leg scorer Jonathon Forte is backed at 11/2 to repeat his opener.
