McIlroy, Thomas and Fowler favourites for Wells Fargo

The PGA Tour moves to North Carolina this weekend with the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship.
And the tournament will see a number of the game’s big names make a return to competitive action following the US Masters last month.
They include Rory McIlroy, who will be out to make up for a disappointing finale in Augusta.
The Northern Irishman started the final day alongside Patrick Reed, but slipped back while the American soared to the Green Jacket.
Nevertheless, Rory’s T5 finish in Georgia suggests he’s on the way back to his top form, and heads to Quail Hollow as 8/1 favourite. The Holywood native has also won this event twice previously.
But it’s a strong field in Charlotte, with Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler Rory’s main challengers according to the odds.
Thomas (11/1) was never quite on the pace at the Masters after an opening round 74. He missed the cut last time out too at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, but he has won two PGA events this season.
As for Fowler (12/1), he’ll be on a real high after a superb couple of days in Augusta.
The Californi an ace came through Saturday and Sunday with a 65 and 67 to finish second, and would have won his first Major had Reed not held his nerve.
The 29-year-old hasn’t played since then, but he won this event in 2013 and he should feature strongly.
Masters champ Reed is 20/1, although the Green Jacket winner will be wary to avoid the fate of Sergio Garcia. The Spaniard is still winless since he won the Masters in 2017.
But Reed was in solid form to post a T7 in New Orleans last time out, so the Texan hitter could well be in the mix again this weekend.
Hideki Matsuyama, Jason Day, Paul Casey and Phil Mickelson feature at the sharp end of the betting too.
But Tiger Woods is again likely to steal most of the headlines in North Carolina over the next few days.
The 14-time Major champ was 32nd in the Masters, and a final day round of 69 was a particular highlight.
There have been glimpses that Woods is on the right comeback trail this time. 25/1 says he bags his first PGA Tour victory since August 2013.
