ITV Racing Tips: Kew Gardens and Hunaina at the double at Lingfield

Hunaina

After the excitement of the Guineas at Newmarket last weekend, there’s even more top-quality racing to enjoy on ITV4 this Saturday.

The 29-runner Victoria Cup at Ascot is the highlight of an eight-race card, which also includes the Derby and Oaks’ Trials from Lingfield, plus the Grade 3 Swinton Handicap Hurdle at Haydock.

Ed Chamberlain and co have something for everyone, and we’ve complimented that with a tip for every televised race

NAP – Kew Gardens – 2:30, Lingfield

Aidan O’Brien holds the ace card in both of the key trial races. Flattering goes in Oaks Trial at 1:55, but it’s Kew Gardens who is the focus of our attention at 2:30.

The Galileo colt concluded last season with a lovely run in the Zetland Stakes over 1m2f to show his promise as a future Derby hopeful.

He was held in third on his return to action at Newmarket last month, but that shouldn’t deter prospective punters.

This yard’s horses always improve for the run. And we’re expecting that to be the case with Kew Gardens as O’Brien bids for a fifth success in this renewal in the last 11 years.

NB – Hunaina – 3:40, Lingfield

The last time we saw Hunaina on these shores, the French-bred raider bolted up by 2l in-front of the ITV cameras to land the Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes.

Now she’s back, and she’s taking to the turf. Progression looks likely for the four-year-old off the back of that Listed success at Kempton.

Her form stacks up against that of his competitors, and we think there’s more to come from the Henri-Francois Devin-trained raider.

A slight reduction in trip to 7f should prove no issue as the daughter of Tamayuz bids for a first Group success.

Lively Longshot – Kynren – 4:00, Ascot

Trying to pick a winner from the 29-runner Victoria Cup is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

But the Ladbrokes News Team like a challenge. And we’ve plumped for Kynren at a handy each-way price.

The Ben Curtis-trained four-year-old went well in the Spring Mile at Doncaster last time out. He finished third that day after rattling off a hat-trick over 7ft-1m at the back end of last season.

His form claims look good and his career performances stack up against the bulk of the main form trends. Off a handy mark, we think he can do the business from stall two.

ITV Racing Tips:

1:55 Lingfield – Lady of Shalott (each-way)

2:15 Ascot – Thundering Blue

2:30 Lingfield – Kew Gardens (NAP)

2:50 Ascot – Barsanti

3:10 Haydock – Optimus Prime

3:25 Ascot – Dynamic

3:40 Lingfield – Hunaina (NB)

4:00 Ascot – Kynren (Lively Longshot, each-way)
