ITV Racing Tips: Haydock Heartache for Tate’s Invincible Army

The countdown to the Epsom Derby is on, but before that there’s the small matter of an exciting eight-race card live on ITV4 this Saturday.
Ed Chamberlin and co have very kindly scattered the cameras up and down the country to bring us the very best of the action from Goodwood, Haydock and York.
Can Battaash justify favouritism in Group 2 Temple Stakes? And who’ll win the battle between Heartache and Invincible Army in the Sandy Lane Stakes?
We’ve answered all of the big questions in our ITV Racing Tips…
After landing our last five NAPs in a row, we’re reasonably confident that Heartache can do the business in the feature race of the day from Haydock.
Clive Cox’s star has been magnificent in her four career starts so far, only coming up short in the Prix Robert Papin in France last October.
She made amends for that run by landing a third Group 2 contest at Doncaster last time out in the Flying Childers’ Stakes. If the filly runs to anything near that kind of standard again this time around, she should excel even further over the extended 6f distance.
Her knack for finishing strongly gives us great confidence on Saturday as the daughter of Kyllachy bids to return with a win.
We’re off to Goodwood next where Society Power can continue his progression in a 16-runner 7f handicap.
The Irish-bred raider is looking for a five-timer after rattling off impressive victories through the classes. The 7f distance would appear to be his trip and after edging George of Hearts by 1/2l last time out we think he can continue his good form up 6lb.
There should be more to come from the William Haggas-trained colt, who also has the benefit of a nice draw. Four of the five winners of this have come from stall two or three.
The Temple Stakes are Battaash’s to lose. But that doesn’t mean there’s not each-way value to be found down the field.
Muthmir, Take Cover and Havana Grey all have marks against them based on form or historical results on their seasonal reappearance. So it’s up to Mabs Cross to lay down a challenge.
Paul Mulrennan’s filly followed up an impressive maiden campaign with a narrow second-place finish in a Listed contest at Bath and a spot in the winner’s enclosure after landing the Group 3 Palace House Stakes at Newmarket.
She’s a progressive type. And she’s showed already that she can mix it with the boys. This will be much tougher, but there’s no reason the Dutch Art filly can’t hit the frame at Haydock.
