ITV Racing Tips: Harry Angel can shine in Duke of York Stakes

The 6f Duke of York Stakes is the highlight on the first day of the three-day Dante Festival from York on Wednesday.

Harry Angel will go up against Tasleet and Brando in the feature race of the day as Clive Cox’s charge bids to return to the track with a fourth black-type success.

There’s also action from the Jorvik Handicap, Infinity Tyres Handicap and Group 3 Musidora Stakes on what should be a scintillating afternoon of racing.

NAP – Harry Angel – 3:30, York

There’s nowhere better to start than the Duke of York Stakes. And it’s dual-Group One winner Harry Angel who is taken to mark his reappearance with victory.

Put simply, the four-year-old is a top quality performer. He landed a whole host of impressive prizes last term before coming up short at Ascot last time out.

The ground wasn’t necessarily in his favour that day. And with the going set to be good-to-firm at York, we’re expecting the raider to bolt up for yet another Pattern Company success.

Victory here should set him up nicely for a tilt at the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and a second Darley July Cup in July.

NB – Lubinka – 4:05, York

There are chances throughout the field in this wide-open heat, but we think it could be Lubinka who comes out on top.

The daughter of Mastercraftsman sprung a minor surprise when sixth at odds of 150/1 in the Group One Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket last term.

That form is as good as any in this race. And what’s more, she followed it up on her reappearance with a 2l success in a Class 6 at Lingfield.

Peter Chapple-Hyam’s hopeful should come on well for that run and makes for an interesting proposition at a more than decent price.

Lively Longshot – Final Venture – 2:55, York

Final Venture hasn’t been acquainted with the winner’s enclosure for some time.

Paul Midgley’s runner last tasted success at Haydock in June 2017. Since then, he’s gone close on a number of occasions in decent fields without landing a blow.

We think that run could be about to change back down in Class 2 Company here.

The six-year-old is nicely handicapped, has a 57% strike-rate on the ground and also boasts a quartet of victories over the distance. He’s a nice price and is taken to do the business for each-way backers.

ITV Racing Tips:

2:20 York – Crowned Eagle

2:55 York – Final Venture (Lively Longshot)

3:30 York – Harry Angel (NAP)

4:05 York – Lubinka (NB)
