How is Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s MLS adventure going with LA Galaxy?

Zlatan Ibrahimovic - LA Galaxy

LA Galaxy aren’t averse to getting their hands on a big-name veteran. Having previously snapped up Steven Gerrard, David Beckham and Robbie Keane, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the latest big name to have made the switch.

The veteran Swede is seven games into his Stateside stint. So, how’s it all going so far?

This is certainly a different sort of assignment for the 36-year-old. Having previously won league or cup honours in five different countries, he’s now playing for one of MLS’ lesser lights.

Galaxy are currently ninth of 12 clubs in the Western Conference. And their poor form gave Zlatan an unwanted new record on Saturday.

A 3-2 loss to FC Dallas marked the first time the former Manchester United man had lost four successive games in his career.

It hasn’t all been bad for Zlatan. His debut was as memorable as they come, with his stunning late brace completing a 4-3 victory over city rivals Los Angeles FC.

That performance proved his instinctive magic hasn’t gone. But time – and prior injuries – are catching up with him. One goal and a single assist in the five games since have been accompanied by a series of fairly lacklustre displays.

Fans of the Swede will be hoping he’s still acclimatising to MLS football, and to having a lower calibre of player around him. But right now, things aren’t looking great.
