Elarqam cut into 4/1 to win the 2000 Guineas

Mark Johnston’s Elarqam has been cut into 4/1 (from 6/1) to win the 2000 Guineas this weekend at Newmarket.

Our traders have reported a flurry of bets on the three-year-old and have had to shorten him accordingly.

Aidan O’Brien’s Saxon Warrior is on the drift, however. The Deep Impact colt has been moved from 9/2 to 6/1. But that now makes the three-year-old top price across the board.

O’Brien’s Gustav Klimt remains the heavy favourite for the race at 15/8.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Elarqam looks bred to win this race and that is where the momentum is at. Gustav Klimt will go off favourite, but punters haven’t been showing their support yet.”
