Southampton v Chelsea tips: Can Saints cause an upset?

Published:

Southampton host Chelsea today knowing that a win could lift them out of the relegation zone.

They’ve lost each of their last four games against the Blues. But Chelsea only have one win in their last five outings. The West London side have also lost three consecutive away games.

Despite their recent slump, Chelsea are 5/6 favourites here. Saints are 10/3, with 5/2 on offer for the draw.

Will Chelsea be up for this? There seems to be a lack of motivation around the club at the moment, while the hosts are desperate for points. Southampton or Draw is 19/20.

Mark Hughes’ side battled well but lost 3-2 to Arsenal last weekend. They’ll be confident of scoring against a Chelsea side that hasn’t kept a clean sheet since February. Both Sides to Score is 17/20.

The big problem for Southampton will be keeping Chelsea out at the other end. They’ve conceded three goals in three consecutive league games. It’s 5/2 that we see Over 3.5 Goals at St. Mary’s.

Eden Hazard has struck in both of his previous two appearances against the South-Coast club. He’s 6/4 to make it three in three.

Antonio Conte’s likely to give Alvaro Morata the nod in attack ahead of Olivier Giroud. The striker is 7/2 to score first.

Charlie Austin is 21/10 to net for Southampton. He’s back to fitness and likely to be their biggest threat. If Southampton are going to get a result, they’ll need him to be firing.
