Premier League Picks: Chelsea blues and perfect Palace on Saturday
There’s not long left to go in the Premier League this season. And that makes this weekend’s round of fixtures all-important.
With issues at the top of the table more or less resolved, attention turns to the dogfight in the bottom-half.
Can Southampton, Crystal Palace and Swansea City pick up the required points to move away from the drop-zone? Or will it be another miserable weekend for the basement dwellers?
We’ve previewed Saturday’s action below…
Southampton v Chelsea (12:30pm)
Chelsea are on a nightmare run of form. The Blues have only won three times in their last 11 Premier League matches to leave Antonio Conte on the brink.
Opponents Southampton looked much better against Arsenal last week and can be considered unlucky not to take a point from the Emirates.
They could spring a surprise at St. Mary’s and are available at 19/20 on the Double Chance.
Burnley v Leicester City (3pm)
Leicester City tend to enjoy their fixtures against Burnley. The Foxes have only lost one of their last 12 meetings with the Clarets. They’ve won three of the last four too.
Claude Puel’s men are rated an 15/8 chance to take all three points at Turf Moor.
If the visitors are to win, the goal will likely come from the boot of Jamie Vardy. The England ace has netted five times in his last six games for club and country. He’s 8/5 to Score Anytime in Lancashire.
At least one side has failed to score in this fixture in each of its last four renewals. Both Teams to Score – No, is 4/5.
Crystal Palace v Brighton & Hove Albion (3pm)
This fixture ended 0-0 when the sides met for the first time in the Premier League back in November.
But with Crystal Palace now in desperate need of points, we’re expecting this encounter to be a more open affair.
The Eagles have failed to score once in their last 13 matches. However, they’ve only kept two clean sheets in that time. It’s 18/5 for Crystal Palace to Win and Both Teams to Score.
Luka Milivojevic has been in incredible form for the South Londoners.
The Serbian midfielder has opened the scoring in his last two matches and has 10 for the season. He’s 13/2 to Score First at Selhurst Park.
Huddersfield Town v Watford (3pm)
It’s crunch time for Huddersfield Town. The Terriers have only won two of their last 15 Premier League matches. But they’ll fancy their chances against Watford.
The Hornets are winless in 10 on the road and have failed to score in their last six matches away from Vicarage Road. You can back the hosts at 8/5.
Liverpool v AFC Bournemouth (5:30pm)
Bournemouth struggled against Liverpool’s potent attack when the teams met at the Vitality Stadium in December. The Cherries lost 0-4 that day. It could be a case of same again at Anfield.
The Reds have scored at least two goals in four of their last five matches. It’s 8/13 for Liverpool to Win and Over 2.5 Goals.
Mohamed Salah has been one of the main architects of that form. The Egyptian King has scored seven goals in his last four matches. He’s 17/10 to Score 2 or More again on Merseyside.
Swansea City (6/4) take on Everton (2/1) at the Liberty Stadium, while Tottenham Hotspur host Manchester City at Wembley. You can read our preview of that top of the table clash here.
