PL Darts Tips: van Gerwen v Barneveld plus a 10/1 Oche Acca

Raymond van Barneveld

Another 10,000 delirious Dutch darts fans will pack into the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam this evening for a second consecutive night of Premier League action.

They’re in for a treat too. Michael van Gerwen takes on Raymond van Barneveld in the showcase game of the night, while Rob Cross and Peter Wright renew rivalries in the middle match this evening.

We’ve previewed all of tonight’s tungsten tussles and come up with a 10/1 acca for your enjoyment…

Michael Smith to beat Simon Whitlock

Michael Smith wasn’t at his best last night against Gary Anderson.

But against the under-performing Simon Whitlock, we’re expecting Bully Boy to bounce back with victory.

The 27-year-old beat the Aussie 7-3 in Berlin and has gone from strength-to-strength since. His superior 140 count could be the telling factor in Rotterdam tonight.

Smith is 5/6 to inflict a third-straight defeat on Whitlock. It’s 11/2 for a repeat 7-3 victory and 4/1 for a draw in the 180 market between two of the league’s lowest maximum scorers.

Gary Anderson to beat Daryl Gurney

If last night’s performances are anything to go by, this should be a walkover for Anderson.

The Scotsman picked up a maximum haul from matches against Smith and Rob Cross, clocking up 109.91 and 99.87 averages in the process.

Put simply, Ando is in the groove. And against Daryl Gurney, who was well below par against Cross, he’s 4/6 for the points.

Superchin won’t be as poor as last night, though. And that should mean a smattering of 180s in this match. The pair have cannoned in 93 between them so far. It’s 10/11 for there to be Over 7.5 tonight.

You can back a First Leg 180 at 8/11.

Rob Cross to beat Peter Wright

Peter Wright did his Finals Night chances no harm with an impressive victory against MVG last night.

The Scotsman was dynamite on his doubles and clinched the match 7-5 in front of the partisan Dutch crowd.

But it’s consistency that has been the problem for Snakebite. And that could prove his downfall this evening against the ultra-consistent Cross.

The world champion has won three of his last four matches and saw off Wright 7-4 in week three.

Only an inspired performance from Anderson 24 hours ago denied the 27-year-old two wins from two on Wednesday.

He’s 10/11 to clinch victory tonight and 7/1 to do so 7-5, in what should be a tight contest. He’s 4/5 to outscore his opponent on the 180 count.

Michael van Gerwen v Raymond van Barneveld – Draw

MVG will be chomping at the bit to put things right after yesterday’s defeat to Wright. But van Barneveld will have the sway of the crowd in Rotterdam.

They inspired him to a 101.44 average in victory over Whitlock last night and they can lift him to a similarly impressive level tonight.

It should be a to-and-fro contest in front of the Oranje. And that could make it a Premier League classic.

You can back the draw at 11/2, with Over 6.5 180s available at 11/10. We go 6/4 about van Gerwen starting in style with a maximum in the First Leg of the match.

Daryl Gurney to beat Simon Whitlock

The final game of the night sees two of last night’s losers go head-to-head.

Gurney has been the more impressive performer over the duration of the competition. Assuming he’s back on song tonight, he should take the spoils.

The Ulsterman heads Whitlock in all the vital scoring charts. If he can improve on his doubling, he should see of the Aussie in style.

Superchin is 10/11 to taste victory. He’s claimed two of his three wins in this year’s event by a 7-3 scoreline. It’s 8/1 for a continuation of that trend.

This week’s Oche Acca is Smith, Gurney (v Whitlock), Cross and Anderson all to win at 10/1.
