Odds slashed on Alice being Royal Baby name; Boy still fav gender

2019 Royal Baby

There’s been a big mover in the Royal Baby name betting, with Alice now emerging as joint-favourite following a tumble in the odds.

Punters have been piling on for the girls’ name, and it’s now 5/1 that Alice is the baby’s name, with our traders cutting it from 7/1 this morning. That puts it alongside fellow 5/1 shot Arthur at the head of the betting.

With the Duchess of Cambridge already in the early stages of labour, we’ll soon have an answer. And there are a number of plausible outsiders in the name stakes, including Mary at 6/1, James at 8/1 and 10/1 shots Albert and Victoria.

As it stands, a baby boy is narrow favourite at 10/11, with even-money it’s a girl.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “It’s the A-Team leading the way currently with Alice and Arthur the joint favourites to be the moniker Kate and Wills opt for.”

She added: “It’s incredibly patriotic that the baby is probably going to be born on St George’s Day, and punters are quids in who believed she would give birth on her due date.”
