Everton v Liverpool tips: Reds frontline may tear Toffees to shreds

Sadio Mane - Liverpool

Saturday sees the 231st Merseyside derby take place, as Everton host Liverpool. But while the Toffees have home advantage, all the signs seem to point to a victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

The Reds produced a spellbinding Champions League display in midweek, with a 3-0 victory over Manchester City. That was their third win on the trot in all competitions.

By contrast, Everton have lost four of their last seven – including a 5-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Add in the fact that Liverpool have recorded four wins and a draw in the last five Merseyside derbies, and victory for the Reds at 10/11 looks likely. Everton are 29/10 to take the points, with 5/2 for honours even.

Klopp’s charges haven’t just been winning regularly in 2018, they’ve been doing so in style. Seven of their last eight wins have come by a margin of two or more goals, and the Liverpool -1 handicap is 12/5 this weekend.

But while the visitors look set to dominate, their hosts are still likely to find the net. The Toffees have scored in each of their last four matches, and the odds make a Reds win and Both Teams to Score a 10/11 shot.

There’s certainly no shortage of attacking talent on the pitch. For the Reds, Mohamed Salah has scored six times in his last three games, and is 3/4 to Score Anytime – though he may be rested ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash.

Sadio Mane loves a goal in this fixture, scoring in two of the last four meetings – and is 9/5 to add to his tally here. Meanwhile, the experienced Wayne Rooney is 11/4 to find the net.

With each of the Reds’ last four games producing three or more goals, it seems likely we’ll see Over 2.5 Goals at 5/6. Meanwhile, our odds-crunchers make it 21/10 for Over 3.5 at Goodison Park.
