PL Darts Tips: On-form Anderson, more Wright woe and an 8/1 acca

The Premier League heads to Nottingham this evening as next month’s judgement night draws ever closer.

Michael van Gerwen resumed his place at the top of the table after last week’s victory over Simon Whitlock, while it’s Daryl Gurney and Gerwyn Price who currently occupy the relegation zone.

We’ve previewed all of the tonight’s matches and put together an 8/1 Oche Acce, which you can find below…

Michael Smith to beat Peter Wright

Michael Smith suffered his first defeat of the season in Leeds last week but can bounce back against an out of sorts Wright.

Bully Boy was only narrowly edged out by world champion Rob Cross last week as he slipped to second in the table behind Michael van Gerwen.

Peter Wright, by contrast, has won just one game so far this term and was comfortably beaten 7-1 by Mensur Suljovic seven days ago.

The form looks set to dictate this one with Smith available at 21/10. He’s also 7/1 to be King of the Oche against the out-of-sorts Scotsman. You can also back a First Leg 180 at even-money.

Daryl Gurney to beat Simon Whitlock

These players have started the Premier League in opposite veins of form.

While Simon Whitlock has won three from five, Gurney has yet to taste success in his debut season. However, we think the head-to-head record could be the way to go here.

The Northern Irishman has chalked up 11 victories in 13 matches against his opponent, including the last six in a row. All of those successes have come over the shorter format.

Despite his league placing, Gurney still has an impressive overall average of 96.54. He’s even-money to win – if he can sort out his doubling.

It’s 9/2 to end 7-5 to the Ulsterman. You can back big finisher Whitlock to take out Over 98.5 at 5/6. A 170 Checkout can be backed at 7/1.

Rob Cross to beat Mensur Suljovic

Two players in red-hot form meet in the third game of the evening.

Rob Cross has won his last three games after losing his opening two, whereas Suljovic lost his opening three and has won his last two. Everything is set up for an intriguing encounter in Nottingham.

In terms of head-to-heads, the Englishman has won all four of his games against the Austrian over the shorter distance. Suljovic may be the form horse where the stats are concerned, but it’s Cross that has the psychological edge.

You can back Voltage at 4/5, with a narrow 7-5 victory available at 9/2. It’s 5/2 for there to be 6+ 180s and a high checkout of at least 121 in the #GetAPrice market.

Michael van Gerwen to beat Gerwyn Price

After a disappointing showing in the UK Open at Minehead, MVG bounced back with a hard-fought 7-4 victory over Whitlock last week.

The Dutchman wasn’t at his best but didn’t need to be against the Aussie slinger.

Up against Price this week, we’re expecting a similar scenario to play out for the Green Machine. His Welsh opponent has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League and will likely find it tough against the relentlessness of van Gerwen.

He’s 1/8 to win the match, with 7-3 and 7-2 both available at 4/1.

The 28-year-old has racked up 18 180s so far and also holds the record alongside Gary Anderson for the highest checkout. He’s 5/4 to be King of the Oche tonight.

Gary Anderson to beat Raymond van Barneveld

Gary Anderson is in excellent nick at the moment. The Scotsman landed the UK Open for the first time last week and followed that up with a battling 6-6 draw against Gurney in Nottingham.

He’s won two of his last three matches with Raymond van Barneveld in the Premier League and boasts a superior record this season in terms of average and 180s scores.

He’s 8/15 to justify favouritism in the contest, with a 7-4 scoreline available at 6/1. In a match between two power scorers, you can back Over 6.5 180s at 11/10.

This week’s Oche Acca is Smith, Cross, van Gerwen and Anderson all to win at 8/1!
