Premier League rumour: Could Alisson end Liverpool’s ‘keeper woes?

Liverpool are targeting Roma goalkeeper Alisson to become their new number one, according to reports.

The 26-year-old has excelled between the posts for Roma this season. He’s also Brazil’s first-choice ‘keeper too.

Alisson has proved himself as one of the best around. But that status comes with a hefty price tag – Roma are understood to value him at £62m.

The Reds are willing to spend big for the right player though, as they showed with the £75m fee for Virgil van Dijk.

There could be plenty of interest in Allison this summer, so Liverpool hope to tie up a deal in the next few weeks.

Liverpool have had an issue with their goalkeepers for a while now. Jurgen Klopp has dropped Simon Mignolet for Loris Karius lately, but are either of them good enough for a team that wants to win major honours? It’s definitely up for debate.

Van Dijk will improve the Liverpool defence but he can only do so much on his own. A top-quality goalkeeper could help take the team to the next level. Klopp only needs to look at the impact Ederson has had at Manchester City to see the difference it could make.

Liverpool are next in action at home to West Ham United next Saturday.
