Premier League Punts: Liverpool win & high-scoring Watford clash
Saturday sees seven Premier League ties taking place, with big implications at both ends of the table.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will be looking to leapfrog Manchester United into second place. Meanwhile, each of the division’s bottom five clubs face vital games in their battle to beat the drop.
Once again, we’ve studied the stats that matter and come up with the bets that we think could bring you joy this weekend. And we start at Anfield…
Liverpool v West Ham United
This tends to be one for the neutral, with each of the last three meetings producing four or more goals. Right now, the Reds are scoring for fun and the Hammers are the highest scorers in the bottom eight. There’s 23/20 about Over 3.5 Goals at Anfield.
Liverpool have won seven of their last 10 games, but have kept just three clean sheets in that time. You can back the Reds to Win and Both Teams to Score at 7/4.
However, they’ve led 2-0 at the interval in three of their last four games.First-Half Handicap: Liverpool -1 is available at 13/5. And following 10 goals in as many games, Mohamed Salah to Score Anytime is 8/13.
West Bromwich Albion v Huddersfield Town
The nicest way to describe recent meetings between these sides is ‘cagey’. Each of the past six clashes between the Baggies and Terriers have produced two goals or fewer.
Both sides are among the Prem’s five lowest-scorers. It’s 4/6 for BTTS – No, while Under 2.5 Goals is available at 8/15.
West Brom’s Solomon Rondon is enjoying a purple patch at present. The Venezuelan has scored in two of his last three outings, netting the closing goal each time. He’s 9/5 to Score Anytime, while Rondon to be Last Goalscorer is 9/2.
Watford v Everton
The goals come thick and fast when these sides face off. The last three meetings have included a 3-2 win for either side.
Speaking of the Head-to-Head record, three of the last five meetings have produced three or more goals after the interval. If you fancy more of the same, it’s 15/4 for Over 2.5 Second-Half Goals at Vicarage Road.
The Toffees are improved of late, but have still won just one away game in the league this term. It’s 17/5 that we see a Score Draw.
Everton’s Oumar Niasse netted in the sides’ last meeting, and has registered in two of his last four games. Niasse to Score Anytime is a 23/10 shot.
Brighton & Hove Albion v Swansea City
The Swans are unbeaten in 10 games in all competitions. But while they’ve been racking up the wins at home, it’s been five away draws on the trot for Carlos Carvalhal’s men.
Double Chance: Swansea or Draw is 7/10, while there’s 2/1 on offer for honours-even. Three of the visitors’ five draws have ended 1-1, and Correct Score: 1-1 is priced up at 5/1 this weekend.
And the rest…
Jamie Vardy will be looking to continue his scoring streak, following goals in his last four games. Leicester City have won six home games on the trot ahead of the visit of lowly Stoke City. Vardy to Score and the Foxes to Win is 13/8
On the South Coast, AFC Bournemouth host Newcastle United. The Cherries are good to watch at home, with each of their last six games at the Vitality Stadium producing three or more strikes. You can get Over 2.5 Goals at 19/20.
Last but not least, it’s Burnley v Southampton. The Clarets took a point off Manchester City in their last home game, and it’s 4/9 for Double Chance: Burnley or Draw.
