Premier League Picks: Victory for Man United and Southampton

Published:
Manchester United

Saturday sees a magnificent seven Premier League clashes, and it’s an especially big day for the league’s bottom six.

All of the sextet are in action, with a relegation six-pointer on the cards as bottom side West Bromwich Albion face Southampton.

Elsewhere, AFC Bournemouth host Stoke and Huddersfield Town visit Old Trafford. Here are our top tips on the action ahead…

West Brom v Southampton

Saints may sit a precarious 18th in the Prem, but the shoots of recovery are beginning to show. They’re five games unbeaten in all competitions, including a draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

They visit a West Brom side who’ve won just once at home in 15 games. Add in the fact that the last two meetings have ended in 1-0 wins for Southampton, and Saints to Win to Nil is our tip at 15/4.

Only one of the last 11 clashes between these sides has seen both sides register, so Both Teams to Score – No seems a safe call at odds of 4/5.

Bournemouth v Stoke City

The Cherries have beaten Arsenal and Chelsea in the last three weeks. So they should breeze to victory against a Potters side who are hapless on the road.

Stoke have managed one point from six Prem away games, conceding a hefty 17 goals in the process.

Victory for the Cherries looks a smart call at 20/23, but we reckon the best value could be Bournemouth -1 at 23/10.

Callum Wilson has netted in four of the Cherries’ last six games, and should prove too strong for the league’s leakiest defence. He’s 6/5 to Score Anytime.

Manchester United v Huddersfield

The Red Devils may have endured a hellish visit to Wembley in midweek, but they have the perfect opportunity to boost their form against a Terriers side in freefall.

Before that defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, United had chalked up five successive wins – all accompanied by clean sheets. With Huddersfield scoring just once in six Prem games, Man United to Win to Nil looks rock-solid at 8/13.

The hosts have already won 10 games this term by a margin of three or more goals. The United -2 handicap is available at 5/4, while Jesse Lingard seems a good call in the Anytime Scorer market at 6/4.

And the rest…

Leicester City have opened the scoring in their last four home games, and are 4/7 to repeat the feat against visitors Swansea City on Saturday.

West Ham United have seen honours-even in two of their last three games, and the Draw is 2/1 as they visit Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester City appear to have the Premier League title all-but wrapped up, but their last two visits to Turf Moor have finished with a 2-1 Citizens win, and 1 -0 Burnley victory. The Burnley +2 handicap looks promising at Evens.

Elsewhere, Arsenal face Everton at the Emirates. Five of the Gunners’ last six games have produced four goals or more, so Over 3.5 Goals could be the way to go at 29/20.
