Michael van Gerwen will be looking to strengthen his grip on top spot as the Premier League heads to Cardiff in week two.

MVG provided the only convincing display in Dublin last week as four of the five games went the distance.

We’re expecting another litany of close encounters this evening. You can get the lowdown on all of the matches with this week’s preview…

Daryl Gurney to beat Michael Smith

The opening game of the night sees two of the PDC’s breakthrough stars go head-to-head. Michael Smith and Daryl Gurney both put in impressive displays against established opponents in week one.

But it’s the Northern Irishman that gets the nod in this one at 5/4.

‘Superchin’ demolished Smith 6-0 in a UK Open qualifier at the weekend. We think he should put in a similar performance in the Welsh capital.

You can back Gurney to win 7-3 at 7/1, while it’s 10/11 for a First Leg 180 between two power scorers.

Rob Cross to beat Simon Whitlock

Things haven’t quite gone to plan since Cross was crowned world champion last month.

‘Voltage’ was beaten on his Premier League debut last week. He followed that up with a trio of first-round defeats in the UK Open Qualifiers over the weekend.

The 27-year-old should be back at home on the big stage against an opponent who has beaten him just once in four attempts.

Cross is backed to prevail at 8/15. While it’s 11/4 for there to be 7+ 180s and a highest checkout of at least 120.

Michael van Gerwen to beat Peter Wright

MVG returned to form in style in Dublin last week. The world number one hit two 180s and recorded a 100.8 average to see off Ally Pally adversary Cross 7-2.

Peter Wright, by contrast, lacked fluency and laboured to a 6-6 draw against debutant Gerwyn Price.

The Scotsman has yet to beat van Gerwen in the Premier League and will likely struggle in this one against the rejuvenated Dutchman.

The Green Machine is 1/3 to taste victory once more. It’s 15/8 about MVG to be King of the Oche.

Gerwyn Price to beat Gary Anderson

Gary Anderson was on the wrong end of one of the biggest shocks in Premier League history last week. The Scotsman suffered a 7-5 defeat to Smith after initially going 5-1 up.

The 47-year-old continues to be plagued by back trouble. And that makes him difficult to support against the The Iceman.

Price, who will be buoyed on by a raucous home crowd in the Welsh capital, provides plenty of value at 12/5.

Mensur Suljovic v Raymond van Barneveld – Draw

Thursday’s final match looks like a treat between two of the PDC’s golden oldies.

Both players threw impressively in week one. Suljovic averaged 103.71 in defeat to Whitlock, while Barneveld hit a quartet of 180s as he picked up a draw against Gurney.

We’re expecting the quality of both players to level out in this one with a draw well-priced at 3/1.

It’s also worth noting that both throwers scored 100+ points on each of their respective first visits to the oche last week. We go 11/8 for that to happen again in the #GetAPrice market.

Our oche acca this week is Cross, van Gerwen, Price and Gurney all to win at 14/1!
