Native River odds-on for Denman Chase plus Newbury update

Native River is odds-on at 4/5 to become the first ever back-to-back winner of the Denman Chase at Newbury.
Colin Tizzard’s star won a three-runner contest in 2017 before going on to finish third in the Cheltenham Gold Cup two months later.
The eight-year-old hasn’t raced since and will make his seasonal bow around the 2m 7f course as he bids for a place in the record books.
His main opposition on Saturday will come from serial runner-up Cloudy Dream.
Ruth Jefferson’s raider is 5/2 for an upset but will need to improve on form which has seen him finish second in seven of his last eight contests.
Saphir Du Rheu, who was a faller on his last appearance in the 2017 Grand National, is next best at 7/2.
Meanwhile, Irish Roe remains the narrow 9/1 favourite to land the Betfair Hurdle.
The Irish-bred raider has looked good so far this season and was only narrowly beaten into second by the impressive Maria’s Benefit in the Yorkshire Rose Mares’ Hurdle last time out.
Competition comes from the fast-improving Jenkins at 10/1. However, questions remain over whether Nicky Henderson’s charge will be able to cope with the step back down in trip up against this level of company.
The booking of impressive young jockey James Bowen (who claims 3lb) could be crucial.
Waterford comes next before a sextet of fancies including Kayf Grace and the well-backed Verdana Blue at 12/1.
High Bridge is another who has attracted support at 20/1 in from 25s. The son of Monsun beat the highly-fancied Charli Parcs at Newbury last time out and should enjoy both the track and trip at Newbury.
