Midweek Premier League tightens top four and relegation fights

A dose of midweek Premier League football always serves up plenty of drama and intrigue.
And this week was no different.
Gameweek 25 produced all manner of surprising results, and tightened up both the top-four fight as well as the relegation battle.

Top-four
Tottenham Hotspur’s excellent 2-0 win over Manchester United and Chelsea’s 3-0 shock loss to Bournemouth may have huge implications when the season ends.
Just five points separate Man United in second with Spurs in fifth.
Despite being completely outplayed at Wembley, Jose Mourinho’s men remain 1/9 to bag a top-four finish.
Liverpool now sit third following Chelsea’s loss, and are 2/9.
Antonio Conte’s Blues also look solid in the betting at 1/4.
Tottenham are on a roll though, and there could be value in the 10/11 for the Whites to haul themselves into the top quartet.
Things don’t look good for off-form Arsenal.
Unless new signings Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can inspire a run of results, they’re set to finish outside the top four for the second year in a row.
Arsene Wenger’s men are the 7/1 outsiders in this market.
Relegation
While Burnley, Leicester City and Everton look safe, everybody from 10th down is in trouble.
Bournemouth currently occupy that spot, yet Eddie Howe’s men are just five points above the bottom three.
Swansea City’s recent upswing following Carlos Carvalhal’s arrival has overhauled the odds too.
The Swans are now 10/11 for the drop, having been far shorter than that six weeks ago.
They’ve spent much of the season as favourites to go down, but the Welsh side have been replaced by Huddersfield Town.
David Wagner’s men enjoyed a solid start to life in the Premier League, but things are taking their toll on the Yorkshire outfit and they’re 8/15 to go straight back down.
West Bromwich Albion still look vulnerable at 11/10, with Brighton & Hove Albion similarly priced at 5/4.
Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United are 12/5, with Stoke City 5/2. Southampton sit in the drop zone, but at 4/1 our traders reckon they should get themselves out of trouble.
