Kane, Salah and Aguero in three-horse race for Premier League Golden Boot

Published:

This season’s battle for the Premier League Golden Boot award has turned into a three-man showdown.

With just 11 games of the campaign remaining, time is running out for strikers to find the back of the net.

Harry Kane leads the way with 23 strikes, but the Tottenham Hotspur man faces a two-pronged challenge.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has proved a revelation this season. The Egyptian has become an instant hero at Anfield thanks to his 22 league goals.

And then there’s seasoned Premier League pro Sergio Aguero.

The Manchester City striker joined the fight after his four-goal haul against Leicester, and sits on 21 for the campaign.

Raheem Sterling is next up on 15, ahead of 13-goal hitman Jamie Vardy.

Logic suggests Kane is the one to beat. He’s won the accolade in each of the last two seasons.

His 23 goals equates to 44% of all Tottenham’s league goals this term.

In contrast, Salah has produced 36% of Liverpool’s strikes. And Aguero has yielded only 26.5% of goals for the Citizens.

While Liverpool and Man City boast an array of players to share the scoring burden, Tottenham don’t quite have the same depth.

So although Salah and Aguero are within striking distance, they’ll have to up the ante if they’re to usurp Kane in the final weeks of the season.
