Europa League Best Bets: Wins loom for Lyon, Leipzig and Salzburg

Published:

The Europa League round of 32 comes to a conclusion tonight, and we’re several of the ties are brilliantly poised for some thrilling clashes.

So ahead of the action, here are tonight’s top tips and best odds…

Villarreal v Lyon

This one is nicely poised with Lyon 3-1 up from the first-leg. But it means Villarreal do have an away goal and a 2-0 win would see the Spanish side through.

Unfortunately for the La Liga outfit, keeping clean sheets is a rare event. They haven’t kept a shut-out since a 1-0 win away at Real Madrid seven games ago. They’re winless in four too.

And with Lyon netting in 14 of their last 15 games, plus an array of top quality strikers like Memphis Depay, Nabil Fekir and Mariano Diaz. Both Teams to Score is a solid 8/15.

What’s more, the French side are unlikely to grab a Champions League spot through Ligue 1 as they sit outside the top three. Lyon are out to win the Europa League and are 19/4 to win tonight with Both Teams to Score.

Leipzig v Napoli

RB Leipzig came good to win the first leg against Serie A leaders Napoli 3-1.

The thing with this tie is that Napoli have made it clear they have little interest in the Europa League this season.

They’re almost guaranteed to qualify for the Champions League through Serie A anyway, and crucially, they’re investing all their efforts in winning the league for the first time since 1990.

A Leipzig win could be the bet of the night at 5/6, while backing them on the -1 handicap at 11/5 should  appeal too.

Atalanta v Borussia Dortmund

Atalanta and Borussia Dortmund played out a thriller in the first-leg, with a stoppage time goal from Michy Batshuayi handing BvB a 3-2 advantage.

It should see both sides go on the front foot tonight.

Atalanta must score will Dortmund can’t risk drawing a blank themselves. Both Teams to Score is 4/9, while over 2.5 goals is similarly priced up at 8/15.

Batshuayi has five goals in four games since joining Dortmund on-loan from Chelsea, and the Frenchman is 9/2 favourite to score first.

RB Salzburg v Real Sociedad

This one is finely balanced after a cracking 2-2 encounter in San Sebastian last week.

Salzburg bagged a 94th-minute equaliser, and that could prove pivotal this evening.

The Austrian side are unbeaten in 27 games, while Sociedad are winless in their last five away games.

The Spanish side must score at least once, but that could leave them exposed. Salzburg look good at 5/4, while over 2.5 goals is 8/13.
