Arsenal v Ostersunds: Gunners to go through, but visitors will put up a fight

Published:

Arsenal host Ostersunds in the second-leg of their Europa League clash tonight.

And having won the opening encounter 3-0 in Sweden last week, Arsene Wenger’s men are pretty much home and dry.

The Premier League side are 2/7 to win again this evening, with the draw 17/4 and an Ostersunds success 17/2.

There isn’t much value in the Gunners there, but there is elsewhere.

With the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City looming on Sunday, Wenger will rest key men this evening.

Ostersunds have no such commitments. Their league campaign doesn’t begin for another six weeks, so they’ll be out to impress under English boss Graham Potter.

So we can expect a plucky performance from the visitors and they’re a tidy 29/10 to be the first team to score. Similarly, it’s 4/1 they open the scoring in the first half.

Then there’s the 13/2 about Ostersunds winning the opening 45-minute exchange. Those markets also lend itself to backing Arsenal to win from behind at 7/1.

Arsenal’s quality, even with a weakened squad, should show through, however.

Danny Welbeck is unlikely to oust Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from a starting berth on Sunday, so tonight is the Englishman’s chance to impress.

The former Manchester United striker is 3/4 anytime. There’s better value at 3/1 for Welbeck to net a brace.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan could get a run out here too as he continues to settle in at the Emirates.

The Armenian is 19/20 to score anytime and 7/2 to grab two goals or more.

Should Arsenal start strongly though, as they did in the first leg, then it could be a long night for the visitors.

If you fancy it to go that way tonight, the Gunners are 4/5 on the -1 handicap and 2/1 to again prevail on the -2 market.
