Rumour Reel Round-Up: Vardy and Sturridge on the move?

Published:

Goals are the most important currency in football. And bringing in the right striker in January can transform a club’s season.

Today’s transfer talk features plenty of attacking players – young, old and in between.

We’ve covered four of the big rumours currently doing the rounds:

Jamie Vardy

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury has left Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho short of options up front.

As Manchester City are 4/6 favourites to sign Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, United could move for Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy. The England international would reportedly cost £35m.

Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is eager to move this month to boost his chances of getting into England’s World Cup squad. And the Reds are reportedly prepared to let him go – if a buyer matches their £30m price tag.

Our traders have Southampton leading the race to sign the 28-year-old at 11/8. West Ham United are 5/1 in second.

Jon Walters

Jon Walters hasn’t had much of a look in at Burnley since joining in the summer. His brief spell at Turf Moor could come to an end this month. Sunderland are said to be interested in signing him.

Sunderland boss Chris Coleman is in the market for strikers. Walters’ experience could make him an ideal addition.
