Rumour Reel round-up: The latest on Barella, Sarr and Cairney

The January transfer window continues to pick up pace, and a number of Premier League clubs are closing in on key targets.
Alexis Sanchez is on course to leave Arsenal for a Premier League rival, whilst Swansea City are after an Atletico Madrid duo.

Nicolo Barella
The 20-year-old is one of Serie A’s most exciting young talents. And a number of European giants have taken note.
Manchester United are currently marginal favourites to sign the Cagliari midfielder this month, at 4/1. But they face pressure from Juventus (9/2) and Liverpool (5/1). Meanwhile, Roma (8/1) and Arsenal (10/1) also have an outside shot of a deal.
Barella has featured 19 times for Cagliari this term, scoring twice. Having also established himself for Italy’s Under-21 side, the youngster has a bright future ahead. The question is – with who?
Tom Cairney
West Bromwich Albion are crying out for a creative midfielder right now. The Baggies’ frontline have struggled for service all season, with the Midlands club managing just 18 goals in their 23 Premier League games.
Unsurprisingly, boss Alan Pardew is looking to rectify that. And his prime target seems to be Tom Cairney of Fulham.
The 26-year-old chalked up 13 goals and 11 assists in the Championship last term, and could prove the difference between survival and relegation for West Brom.
Cairney’s asking price is believed to be £12m. In the current market, that would be something of a bargain.
Bouna Sarr
Whether it’s as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez or simply as back-up, Leicester City look to be closing in on the signature of Sarr from Olympique Marseille.
The 25-year-old hasn’t been tearing up trees in Ligue 1, but he’s been a decent performer for L’OM since joining in 2015. And Foxes boss Claude Puel will have seen a fair bit of the winger during his time as Nice manager.
With few other major suitors, he’s unlikely to set Leicester back too much. As a solid, low-risk addition, the Guinean looks a good call.
