Rumour reel round-up: Fellaini, Walcott and Gameiro latest

Published:

We’re halfway through the January transfer window, but you get a feeling that things are starting to heat up.

Alexis Sanchez appears to be nearing an Arsenal exit, while Liverpool continue to consider options post-Philippe Coutinho.

There are plenty of other stories doing the rounds though, including these three…

Theo Walcott

The England international remains an Arsenal player – for now.

Everton continue to be heavily linked with Walcott, but it’s far from plain-sailing.

It’s believed that the Gunners are waiting on the Alexis Sanchez situation, plus they’re monitoring the fitness of Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud.

None of that helps Walcott though, who remains on Arsene Wenger’s periphery. A move to Everton or Southampton is his best chance of kick-starting his club and country career in the near future.

Marouane Fellaini

The Belgian seems intent on running down his Manchester United contract, despite Jose Mourinho’s continued public support.

Fellaini is still only 30-years-old, so has plenty to offer. A move to West Ham United would see him team-up with David Moyes for the third time, and arguably no manager has got more out of the 6ft 4in midfielder.

Besiktas have also been linked, should Fellaini fancy a change of scenery.

Kevin Gameiro

The Atletico Madrid striker has been linked with a number of Premier League outfits.

But the latest report is that Swansea City could splash £25m on the striker.

The Swans are desperately short of quality up front, and they’re almost certain to be relegated unless they can make improvements in the January window.

Gameiro has started just seven La Liga games for Diego Simeone’s side this season, but it remains to be seen whether he fancies swapping Spain and the European football for Wales and a relegation scrap.
