Rumour Reel Round-Up: Daniel Sturridge, Zlatan and Schneiderlin linked

Published:

The January transfer window closes on Wednesday night, so time is running out for clubs to make potential vital changes.

The same goes for players, with many in the Premier League looking for a pastures new and a fresh start.

Here’s today’s rumour round-up…

Daniel Sturridge

Despite seeing Philippe Coutinho move to Barcelona, Daniel Sturridge’s Liverpool career still looks to be over.

There has been plenty of speculation today about a potential loan to Newcastle United.

The move could be ideal for player and club. The Magpies lack movement up front and Sturridge would become the focal point of the side.

But with rumours suggesting that the Englishman has not travelled north to meet the Geordie side, it’s believed West Bromwich Albion could swoop in with a move of their own.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was Manchester United’s saviour last season, but things are very different this time around.

The Swede has struggled to regain fitness from his cruciate ligament injury, and comments from Jose Mourinho suggest the club will not stop Ibrahimovic moving on.

Few sides can afford his wages however, and at 36-years-old, even fewer will see him as a viable target.

MLS side LA Galaxy are the only club in connection with the striker, and it’s believed a move could be close.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Once a highly sought-after midfielder at Southampton, Morgan Schneiderlin’s career has gone downhill since leaving the south coast.

The Frenchman failed to shine at Manchester United, and the move to Everton hasn’t brought the revival many expected.

He has featured regularly for the Toffees this season, but it’s believed a £20m offer from West Ham United is on the cards.

If so, Sam Allardyce may be keen to cash in and recoup the money Everton spent on the 28-year-old 12 months ago.
