Manchester United’s January transfer activity has seen their odds of winning this season’s Champions League trimmed.

The Red Devils are close to signing Alexis Sanchez and have been cut to 12/1 to win their first European title since 2008 as a result.

In-fact, we can report that Jose Mourinho’s men have been the most backed team in the competition since interest in the Chilean first arose last week.

However, rivals Manchester City still head the betting at 11/4.

But with Sanchez eligible to compete for United in the Champions League, the Red Devils have been trimmed down from 14/1 for European success.

The Old Trafford club resume continental commitments next month with a trip to Sevilla.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “United have pulled off one of the signings of the season, so it’s no surprise to see their odds of winning this year’s Champions League take a hit following interest from punters.”
