Might Bite has been installed as the new 7/2 favourite for the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup.

It comes after Sizing John could only finish seventh in the Christmas Chase at Leopardstown.

The Jessica Harrington-trained runner was found to be “clinically abnormal” following the race’s conclusion, which may in part owe to his disappointing performance.

Regardless, 2017’s Gold Cup winner has been lengthened out from 3/1 to 6/1 for 2018’s Cheltenham showpiece.

He now trails behind Might Bite in the ante-post betting after Nicky Henderson’s charge toughed it out to win the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day.

Road to Respect has been cut from 25s to 9/1 after his success in Ireland, while Coney Island and Native River are available at 10/1.

Thistlecrack, Yorkhill and Our Duke are next best at 14/1 respectively.
