Marco Silva 3/1 for Southampton; Pellegrino Prem fav to exit next

Southampton betting news

Times are tough for Southampton, with the South Coast club having won just one of their last 15 Premier League games. And boss Mauricio Pellegrino is odds-on to be the next Prem manager to exit his post.

The former Alaves boss is just 4/6 to be the next Prem departure, with pressure piling on the man who joined Saints in June 2017.

And despite the Argentine still clinging onto the job at St Mary’s, a favourite has already emerged to replace him – in the form of 3/1 shot Marco Silva.

Silva’s stint as Watford boss ended abruptly last weekend, but it seems he could be back at the reins of a top-flight club very soon.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Silva’s sudden availability may lead to Southampton chiefs sacking Pellegrino sooner than we thought, with the latest odds suggesting the former Watford and Hull boss could soon be set for a spell with the Saints.”

Southampton host Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday night.

If they fail to come good on odds of 7/10 for victory, it could well be the final straw for Pellegrino, and trigger a quick return to the Prem for Silva.
