Farage 4/1 to return to UKIP helm; Kurten and Aker joint-favs
Published:With current UKIP leader Henry Bolton’s position coming under increasing scrutiny, a new head of the party could soon be installed. And amongst the frontrunners is a very familiar face – Nigel Farage.
The 53-year-old is attracting the early cash in this market, despite appearing to rule himself out.
Many punters clearly think the MEP is bluffing, though, with Farage 4/1 third-favourite to return as party leader, having stepped down from the role in 2016.
UKIP’s Education Spokesperson David Kurten, and relative youngster Tim Aker are currently joint-favourites at 3/1 apiece.
Following Farage are Peter Whittle (5/1), Gerard Batten (8/1) and a duo of Ben Walker and Bill Etheridge at 10/1.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Farage might have ruled himself out, for now, but it wouldn’t be the first time he’s said one thing and done another, so it’s not a huge surprise to see punters backing him to replace Bolton.”
