Durrant and Ashton odds-on for BDO World Championship success
Published:Glen Durrant is the overwhelming favourite to win the 2018 BDO World Darts Championship.
Duzza has dominated in all of his games so far and has been cut to 8/11 for success at the Lakeside on Sunday.
The Teeside-slinger posted a 95.29 average in his opening match against Gary Robson and followed that up with a 99.43 average in a 4-1 defeat of Darryl Fitton on Wednesday night.
With Durrant in such rampant form, it’s difficult to see anyone halting his charge towards a second successive world title.
Mark McGeeney is considered the most likely challenger to the number one seed at 11/2 after he produced an upset against Danny Noppert in the second-round.
He’s followed by two-time winner Scott Waites at 7/1 and Andy Baetens – conqueror of Scott Mitchell in the last round – at 12/1.
However, we like the look of 20/1 shot Michael Unterbuchner.
The Munich-native became the first ever German player to win a match at the Lakeside in his first round victory against the highly-rated Jamie Hughes.
He must now be seriously considered as a dark horse for the tournament at extremely enticing odds.
Meanwhile, in the Women’s World Championship, three-time champion Lisa Ashton is expected to justify favouritism at 10/11.
Aileen de Graaf made light work of Paula Jacklin the first round and is 9/2 for success, while Deta Hedman can be backed at 6/1.
At the same-price, it could be worth backing Anastasia Dobromyslova.
The Russian ace is another three-time winner and posted the highest average of the first round in a straight-sets victory over Anca Zijlstra.
She’s a tasty 6/1 to upset the odds.
You can also back the rejuvenated Fallon Sherrock at 10/1, Trina Gulliver at 16/1 and Sharon Prins at 25/1.
