Deadline Day latest odds: Schurrle, Luiz and Torres all linked

Published:

It’s deadline day and transfers are being disputed up and down the land.

The odds are rapidly changing, and it’s a busy one for our football traders.

Here’s the latest:

David Luiz is now just 6/4 to join Arsenal. The Gunners have just spent £56m to secure the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

But last night’s 3-1 loss to Swansea City highlighted Arsene Wenger’s need for a defender. Luiz isn’t in Antonio Conte’s plans at Chelsea and could be the ideal signing.

World Cup winner Andre Schurrle is also 6/4 to join West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies have already celebrated the arrival of Daniel Sturridge, and signing Schurrle from Borussia Dortmund would be a real coup for Alan Pardew.

While West Brom fans are happy, Newcastle United supporters are quite the opposite.

The Toon Army haven’t seen any signings arrive in January, while talks of a takeover have stalled..

There’s tension in the air. But could Rafa Benitez use his contacts? The Spaniard has been linked with his former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

The striker may not be the player of old, but he’s a quality forward and 8/1 says it goes ahead.

Newcastle’s striker search could also take them to London, where Javier Hernandez is 6/1 to move to Tyneside from West Ham United.

Elsewhere, Rob Holding has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal. The defender is 5/4 to move up north to Burnley.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Plenty of clubs are facing a race against time to add to their ranks, but the latest odds suggest a few more blockbuster moves might be on the cards.”
