World Darts Championship Day 9: Round two underway from the Palace

Round two from the PDC World Darts Championship gets underway with six matches from across the afternoon and evening sessions.
Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson and Steve Beaton are all in action as the tournament moves up a gear.
We’ve got you covered with previews for both sessions on a mega-day of darting action…
Gerwyn Price v Ian White (12:45)
This looks set to be a tight encounter.
Both players possess the quality to win the game, which means it could come down to which one is more consistent on their doubles.
White clocked an impressive checkout percentage of 55.56% in his opener. If he can replicate that here, he could take the honours at 11/10.
‘Diamond’ also has the edge psychologically over Price. The 47-year-old has won five of the six matches between the pair. We think he’ll edge a close match 4-3 at 9/2.
Vincent van der Voort v Steve Beaton (14:00)
Two of darts’ elder statesmen will do battle in the second game of the day as Vincent van der Voort takes on Steve Beaton.
The Dutchman was seriously impressive against Dave Chisnall in round one and could romp to victory if he can build a head of steam.
Beaton will need to show significant improvement if he’s to make it to the last-16 stage for the first time since 2004.
Van der Voort is taken to justify favouritism at 4/6. The 4-1 scoreline also makes appeal at 9/2, as does the 42-year-old’s King of the Oche odds of 9/2.
Jan Dekker v Dimitri van den Bergh (15:15)
The final game of the afternoon sees the Netherlands face Belgium in a game that will be about two contrasting styles.
Van Den Bergh will be relying on scoring power, while Dekker can boast the best doubling percentage of any player on the PDC circuit.
Given the Dreammaker’s hot recent form, we fancy his chances at 8/13 against Double Dekker.
And given that the youngster also recorded the second-highest average of the first round, it also looks likely that Van der Bergh to hit 7+ 180s, checkout 123+ will land at 7/2. He’s 15/8 to be King of the Oche.
Mensur Suljovic v Robert Thornton (19:15)
It’s hard to disagree with odds of 3/10 for Suljovic to win this contest.
The Austrian has been in sensational form this year and should improve on an underwhelming performance against Kevin Painter in the first round.
Robert Thornton is a good player with plenty of experience on this stage and we think he’ll nick a couple of sets on the way to a 2-4 defeat at 7/2.
Our traders go 9/1 on the game ending on Double 14 – Suljovic’s favourite.
Gary Anderson v Paul Lim (20:30)
Paul Lim shocked Mark Webster in the first round to make it through to round two at the Worlds for the first time since 2002.
Unfortunately for the Singapore slinger, this is where his journey should end.
Anderson is an almost unbackable 1/33 to win the game, which makes his King of the Oche odds – 4/7 – the one to be on.
He’s 5/6 to chalk up a 4-0 win, although we think there could be something in Lim to nick a set at 9/4.
The high-scoring Scotsman also makes appeal to hit 8+ 180s, checkout 129+ and win the match in the #GetAPrice market at 3/1.
Michael van Gerwen v James Wilson (21:45)
MVG opened the tournament with a 106.17 average in his 3-1 victory over Christian Kist last week.
Against James Wilson, he should up his game again.It’s 5/6 that he opens a can of whitewash on the Lethal Biscuit and wins 4-0, while we go 6/4 about a 180 in the first leg for the Dutchman.
If the current World Champion gets into his stride then the 3/1 about MVG to hit 8+ 180s, checkout 131+ and win the match also looks likely to come to fruition.
