World Darts Championship Day 12: Anderson, Taylor and Cross in action

Six unseeded players will take to the oche today looking to book their place in the quarter-final of the PDC World Darts Championship.

Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson are also in action as they bid to join Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld in the last-eight.

We look at all six games from both the afternoon and evening sessions on day 12 at the darts…

Antonio Alcinas v Darren Webster (12:45)

The opening game of the day sees two of the tournament’s dark horses go head-to-head.

Alcinas is rated a 5/2 chance, with Webster odds-on at 3/10.

Both players have yet to record an average over 92.0 in the tournament so far.

And with just 14 180s shared between them in their four matches combined, this should be a close game.

Webster is backed to make the quarter-final for the first time since 2007 with a 4-2 win at 7/2.

Under 9.5 180s also makes appeal at 8/11.

Mensur Suljovic v Dimitri van den Bergh (14:00)

If these two play to their potential then we’re in for a real treat.

Van den Bergh has been one of the stars of the tournament so far after posting a 104.17 average in his first round demolition of Stephen Bunting.

Against Suljovic, who has yet to really get going at the Worlds, the young Belgian may fancy his chances.

He’s 13/8 to upset the odds, with the Austrian odds-on at 1/2.

At those prices, and given his spectacular scoring form, we fancy Dancing Dimitri to edge this tungsten tussle 4-3 at 11/2.

A game between two power scorers should also see a 180 in the first leg of the match at 11/8.

John Henderson v Rob Cross (15:15)

After dumping out Daryl Gurney in the last round, John Henderson will be eyeing up debutant Rob Cross for another shock here.

Big John has been in fantastic form of late and will push ‘Voltage’ who hit 16 180s in a seven-set thriller against Michael Smith in the last round.

Cross should prevail at 1/8, although Hendo offers plenty of value at 5/1 for speculative punters.

With the T20 bed set to take a hammering, we also like the look of Cross to hit 9+ 180s, checkout 127 and win the match at 3/1.

It’s 6/4 for the 27-year-old to hit a 180 in the first leg of the match.

Jamie Lewis v James Richardson (19:15)

Jamie Lewis produced the performance of his life to beat tournament third-favourite Peter Wright last night.

The Welshman hit 13 maximums and recorded a 107.27 average in a sensational display of darts.

If he can get anywhere close to that kind of quality tonight, he should see off the impressive James Richardson at 1/2.

He’s 11/4 to be King of the Oche, with a 4-1 Lewis win also priced handily at 7/2.

Phil Taylor v Keegan Brown (20:30)

Taylor has won 24 out of his 26 World Championship last-16 matches.

After dismantling Pipe 4-1 in the last round he should make light work of Keegan Brown at 1/16.

The Power towers above his opponent in all aspects and should claim King of the Oche at 11/8.

It would come as no surprise if the Stoke arrowsmith made light work of 25-year-old with a comfortable 4-0 victory at 5/4.

Brown to nick a set is available at 11/5.

Gary Anderson v Steve West (21:45)

With new seeds falling every day, Anderson will have to be wary against Steve West.

The Scotsman dropped a set against Paul Lim in the last round.

West is a more accomplished player and boasts a better checkout percentage than the two-time World Champion.

He’s unlikely to spring a shock at 9/1 but is well capable of taking a set at 11/5.

Anderson is 1/20 to justify favouritism, although odds of 11/4 for him to hit 8+ 180s, checkout 125+ and win the match make more appeal.
