Premier League picks: We run through the best bets for the 3pm games

Before the Premier League goes into hyperdrive with Super Sunday’s derby day, there’s plenty of action to get your teeth into on Saturday.

West Ham United host Chelsea at lunch-time, before Newcastle United and Leicester City provide the evening entertainment.

In the middle though, is a quintet of matches which – mostly – could really go either way.

Here’s the Ladbrokes News Team’s Premier League picks for the 15:00 fixtures…

Burnley v Watford

Few would have expected that by the time Watford travelled to Burnley two weeks before Christmas both sides would be sitting in the top eight.

They’ve each been excellent this season, going about their business in very differing styles.

Just three of Burnley’s matches have seen more than three goals, while Watford’s games have witnessed three or more nine times already.

Only the two Manchester clubs have conceded fewer goals than Burnley this season, while Watford’s powerhouse attack has made up for a leaky defence.

Going forward the Hornets boast a potent sting. They’ve netted 15 times on their travels this term, and though Burnley have conceded just three at home, Marco Silva’s men are a tasty 19/10 to edge out the Clarets.

Crystal Palace v Bournemouth

Roy Hodgson was already a year into his first managerial gig at Halmstads in Sweden before Eddie Howe was even born.

But now they’ll face off as managers of two sides eagerly seeking points.

As expected, Howe’s Bournemouth are on the up after a tough opening couple of months. They’ve only lost three of their last nine and each of those came to sides who sit in the top seven.

But it’s just one defeat in six for Crystal Palace, and that should see the two sides cancel each-other out and settle for a point each at 9/4.

Huddersfield v Brighton

Newly promoted pair Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion will both fancy their chances here.

This will be a close one. The Yorkshire side have picked up 11 of their 15 points on home soil, but Brighton have arguably adapted better to the rigours of Premier League football.

Don’t expect too many goals in this one with the two sides combining for just 23 strikes this term. Under 2.5 is 4/9 while under 1/5 should be considered at 7/5.

Swansea v West Brom

Let’s not mess around here, this game would be short odds to be last on Match of the Day if our traders offered such a market.

Swansea have scored just eight goals this season and have picked up one point from the last 21 available.

West Bromwich Albion haven’t done much better, but in Alan Pardew they should be newly galvanised and with fresh impetus to bag at least a point.

The draw stands out at 19/10, while under 2.5 goals looks a sure thing at 4/9.

Tottenham v Stoke

This is the only 3pm game which looks easy to call.

Tottenham Hotspur have lost their way in the league of late, but they love playing against Stoke City and this is the perfect game for them to kick-start their domestic season.

Mark Hughes’ men haven’t got near Spurs in recent meetings, with the last three meetings seeing the London side win 4-0.

Get on Spurs -2 @ 15/8 and don’t rule out -3 @ 9/2.

Harry Kane has scored six times in his last three appearances against the Potters. He’s 4/7 anytime, but it’s the 11/5 for a brace and 8/1 to score another hat-trick which should appeal.
